There are so many amazing moms right in our own backyard. Every month we would like to introduce you to a local mom entrepreneur who is juggling motherhood and her own business and doing a fabulous job with both!
Meet Melody Fuhr, a local mom and designer of the HOTTEST LBD (little black dress) around...
The convertible My Tai dress is made from bamboo jersey. It looks great AND feels great. The My Tai dress (or jumpsuitc is a chic, elegant, easy to wear staple to have in your wardrobe! It is great as a beach cover-up w/ flip flops or with a quick change of shoes and some jewelry you can be date night ready. PS: It's also easy to launder...just pop it into your washing machine! Visit www.mytaiclothing.com for more information.
Melody is a full-time working mother. She has a contemporary women's collection of convertible dresses and clothing which she sells to specialty stores all over the United States as well as internationally. She started this business after 14 years in the apparel business working in leadership positions for The Limited, Banana Republic, Jones NY, and 2xist.
When Melody's oldest daughter was 6 months old, she attempted to create a work/life balance and quit her job. She then started a consultancy business specializing in denim product development and design which is her background. Warnaco/Calvin Klein was her first client. Six months later she left that and started her first brand.
Today, Melody has 2 beautiful little girls who know how to use a light box, they paint, sketch, love to play dress up and give her great advice on the latest trends in toddler fashion. She has a studio in her house which allows her to be on mommy duty while still trying to get some work done. Melody also has a showroom in NY and in LA .
When she's not designing, Melody enjoys traveling and entertaining. Her friends call her Martha Stewart (the newer model) because she's a great cook, can entertain 40 with ease, grow a raging exotic herb garden, sew, drive a tractor and milk a cow (she grew up in the south!).
